MEXICO Continued - Fri., Dec. 12

Friday was a pretty quiet day because of all of the festivities the night before and because Guadalupe Day (Día de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe) is celebrated on December 12, and almost every business, hotel, restaurant, and neighborhood makes a procession to the church for a special mass they have devoted to the Virgin. (FYI-when girls are born on 12/12, they're usually named Guadalupe or Lupe and the boys are named Diego - so, if we were Mexican Bennett probably would've been named Diego)

Mick and Chad decided to have another tennis lesson, and I went along to take pictures of them and read while catching some more rays After their lesson, we decided to watch some more of the national tennis tournament, they were playing for 2nd place. Then we caught the bus back to Chad's place and took a siesta. We were pretty tired from the night before - even with earplugs in, we could hear all the music and partying until 3am or so.

When we woke up from our naps, I decided it was a great time to call Bennett for his birthday. Yes, we were in Mexico for Bennett's big 5th birthday. I totally felt guilty for missing it and was really starting to miss the boys by now and was ready to talk to them. Chad doesn't have a phone or cell phone, so we bought a calling card and called from a payphone on the street. It wasn't the most ideal, but I was so excited to hear their voices. My parents made sure Bennett had a great birthday and he seemed very happy when I talked to him. Davis mostly wondered how the airplane "ride" was and Kyle asked if we were having a good time. When Jake got on the phone, the first thing he asked me was, "Mom, what's your phone number down there?" And I asked him why, did he need to tell me something. And he just said, "No, I just want to call because I miss you." Then my mom got back on the phone and told me the boys are doing great except Jake seems to be having a pretty tough time and that he really missed me. So, there I was on the crowded streets of Puerto Vallarta crying. Yah, I'm a "boob."
~
After our phone conversation, we ate at a street vendor (YUMMY) and Chad treated us to ice cream. We tried two different ice cream shops to compare and just basically to over indulge. We walked along the Malacon some more, people watched, and just enjoyed the beautiful weather the rest of the night.

More to come (my two favorite days there and most of the pictures)!

It sounds like the perfect, relaxing, fun trip.

I just realized I never answered your question you left in my comments. Gelato and Trevi are both from Motherhood Maternity believe it or not. We bought Gelato when I was pregnant, and the giraffe was so cute we just had to go back and get it for Christmas this year.

I would have cried too, if I got a phone call like that from my kids.
