Thought you may be interested - Davis is doing so much better. The swelling has gone down, he can open his eye almost all the way, and most importantly he's in less pain. He's just a little embarassed by having a green/purple "chipmunk cheek" and a bloody black eye (he's pretty colorful). I tell him he looks great! And if you saw him the day it happened - you'd definately agree. Thanks everyone for your concern, it means a lot to us.

The Story Behind the Slideshow Below...
Yesterday Davis and Brady had a baseball game in BC, so Kim and I decided to carpool together (blessing #1). We got there a little early so the boys went off to practice their pitching in those pitching cage thingys and Kim and I got settled on the bleachers. It only seemed like two minutes later I noticed the coach walking our way with his arm around Davis. The first thing I saw was a bloody nose and my first thought was "are you kidding - we just got here?" and then I saw his face. My stomach just dropped and I felt pretty whoozy. I turned over my shoulder to Kim and asked if she could handle things like that and if she could help me and she said, "yes" (blessing #2). (We were told that the coach's son picked up a baseball in those pitching cage thingys and hit the ball back to Davis and it hit him line drive in the face.) I asked Kim as they were walking over if we needed to take him to the hospital and she said, "yes." Then I asked her if she would come with me and she said, "yes." She was so awesome!! She went to Davis, put her arm around him talking to him calmly and helped hold ice to his face and got in the backseat with him (blessing #3) on the way to the hospital.
When we got to the hospital, Kim took Davis into the ER while I parked the car and she started getting him checked in. We didn't have to wait at all (blessing #4). Most of the nurses thought Kim was Davis's Mom because she was so lovingly awesome with him! They would ask questions looking at her and the pale lady on the chair (me) would answer. They took us back to a room and Mick showed up soon after (blessing #5). So, Kim was able to leave and she offered to take Bennett back to her house while we were in the hospital (blessing #6). And Mick's parents just happened to only be 5 minutes away from our house - they were coming to watch the baseball games. So, they were able to stay with Kyle and Jake and take them to their game (blessing #7).
The nurse gave Davis something for the pain (blessing #8) and after awhile they took him to get a CT. They told us it would only take 20-30 minutes for results...but it took a little longer. Davis was sure to tell the doctor too. It was pretty funny. He asked the doctor, "Do you have my picture yet?" The doctor said, "Not yet." Then Davis said, "You said it would only take 20-30 minutes and it's been 52 minutes." I think the doctor didn't know what to say, he just smiled and said hopefully it'll be here soon. And two minutes later he had the results. He said Davis has a fractured nose and that it will heal on it's own (blessing #9). After hearing the doctor and nurse saying that he may need surgery - it was a huge relief!! Looking at his face, you'd think that he broke a lot more.
Davis was amazingly tough through the whole thing (blessing #10)!!! It still amazes me how well he took everything. He was so brave! He said he didn't even know we were taking him to the hospital. I don't think he knew the real extent of his injuries -- until he finally looked in the mirror hours after the accident. He's getting used to his face now, but is starting to get a little self conscious when others look at him. I told him he won't be going to school until he can at least open his eye again. But then I remembered WASL - so we'll see what the school thinks. I'm not sure all kids could handle seeing him this way - I still have a tough time (and I'm still emotional when I think about it - which is too often). I don't think the pictures do his injuries justice. So, today we're taking it easy and he's keeping ice on his face. Hopefully we'll see BOTH of his beautiful brown eyes soon. And despite everything - we were blessed in a lot of ways yesterday.

Here are the rules:
1. Answer questions from your blog list of friends and family.
2. If you don't have 18 names on your list you can pick a name for the last question.
3. Tag 5 people.
Then she asked me to answer these questions:
When did you meet the first person on your list? Ashley and I met when I started dating her cousin (Mick). I went to a family reunion with him when we were engaged and met the whole family all at once. Talk about nervous-making (can you tell I've been reading the "Uglies" series?). She was a cute little girl then and now is a beautiful wife and mother. Time sure flies!
What do you like about the 3rd person on your list? Debie ~ Hmmmm...where do I start. She's one of the most compassionate and caring people I know. She's always thinking of others ahead of herself. She's very creative and talented. She's a great Mother and Wife. She's dedicated. She's beautiful. And she's a great VT partner!
What do you do you like best about the 5th and 6th person on your list? It'll be tough to narrow it down to just one thing. Let's see, the best thing about Jan is how she makes you feel like you're the most important person when you're talking to her. And the best thing about Kimi is she's a GREAT sister-in-law that LOVES my brother unconditionally.
How long have you known the 9th person on your list? Let me think... I've known Kristen since she was pregnant with Porter...so, 2 1/2 years? We met when our mutual friend Becky and I did a craft show together. And now we're good friends and our boys are good friends.
What impresses you about the 11th and 12th person on your list? Lisa and Mara. That's easy. I've known both of them for a long time and I think they're both very patient people, which makes them great Mothers!!
What is a memory with the 16th person on your list? I have a few memories of Rochelle. I remember when I used to babysit her and she gave me her 3rd or 4th grade picture. I thought it was very cute of her. I remember her as a Beehive at Girls Camp. I remember when her and Ryan first moved here to Pasco. I remember when she had Cole (just 5 months after Davis was born). I remember how much they wanted another baby and how excited they were when she got pregnant with Kamden. I remember when she moved out of our ward and we didn't get to see eachother every Sunday anymore (and sadly lost touch). :( I remember hearing of her diagnosis this last summer and how I felt for her and her family. And now I marvel at her optimism and strength!
Say something nice about the 18th person on your list? Terra is a very thoughtful person. I remember after my c-section with Bennett she would come visit me often. It helped me a lot!
Now I have to tag 5 people. TAG Ashley, Kristen, Lisa, Nicki, and Sonja (I'm wondering why I'm not on some of your lists...you know who you are?) -- YOU'RE IT!!! :)

Davis's Story
Sorry it's taken so long Davis. He's been "bugging" me to do his birth day story for days. You know how Spring Break is though - no Mom time (translation: no blogging time because the kids are taking turns on the computer all day).
Anyway, I thought I'd copy right from his baby book. "The Day You Were Born": You were born Monday, April 6, 1998 at 11:11 p.m. How Mom knew it was time: Dad and I went for a walk on Sunday, April 5th to try and start "something" and sure enough - contractions started before we even made it home...about 6pm. They didn't get close enough together until 10:30 p.m. The contractions were about 2-3 minutes apart when I woke your Dad. Your Dad was so tired he suggested we wait until the contractions were 1-2 minutes apart. I didn't think that was a good idea since you were my first baby and didn't know how fast you'd come into this world (which I guess we could've waited). We checked in the hospital around 11:00 p.m. that night. Who was there? How long did it take? Worst part? Best part?: Your Dad, the doctor, and the nurses were the only ones in the room when you were born - but your Grandma Wiberg, Grandma McDonald, Aunt Leah, Aunt Heather, Uncle Jeff, and Kristene Killinger were waiting for your arrival in the waiting room. They say they heard the doctor say, "It's a Davis" when you were born (the doctor asked what our boy and girl name was). It took quite awhile for you to be born...HOURS and HOURS. It was a long, painful (my epidural didn't work), exhausting experience, but well worth it! The doctor mentioned prepping me for a c-section and I suddenly dialated to a 10. The worst part was the hours of pain. Your Dad being there with me actually helped with that some. And the best part was the "relief" when you were born and seeing you. I was a little out of it from being awake for SO MANY HOURS and the medication they gave me for the nausea - but I remember thinking how beautiful you were. Even if your head was a little cone-shaped from being vacuumed. :) You were in the birth canal for so long, the doctor didn't want to wait any longer to get you out, so he used the vacuum. So after 29 hours of labor (and two nights of no sleep for me) - you were FINALLY born. :) Mom's feelings: Becoming a mother is the most wonderful and special feeling ever! I really wasn't expecting to have such an INSTANT love and bond - it was so magical! From the moment you were born I forgot about the pain of labor and was filled with hopes and dreams for you and knew I would do anything for you! I love you so much!
Who knew that when you were only 7 months old I'd find out I was pregnant again. And that you'd have three younger brothers to take care of and play with when you were only 5. You adapted and took on the responsibility very well. You're such a joy to have in our family. I love watching you grow and learn, watching you play in sports (I'm a little competitive too Kim), watching you advance in scouts, watching your testimony grow, and watching you become your own person. I'm proud to be your Mom!!

Happy Birthday Davis!
My oldest "baby" turned 10 today. With his birthday, it's got me remembering all kinds of feelings and emotions -- the DESIRE Mick and I had to start a family, the FEAR we had when the doctor told me I have fertility issues and may not get pregnant, the EXCITEMENT of finding out a month later that I was pregnant, the JOY of pregnancy, the pain and RELIEF of birth, the instant LOVE and bond I had with him, the SADNESS of leaving him behind in the hospital for a week, and the overwhelming thought of being a parent and bringing him home.
It's sad for me to think that I won't ever have these experiences again, but I do know that I will experience all these emotions and more as I continue through motherhood. It's such a blessing to be a Mom - I can't ask for a better calling. I very much enjoyed the talk that was given this afternoon about Mothers...it really helped me reflect on my parenting, my children, and my relationship with my husband. I felt like it was for me. I sometimes feel all alone with my feelings and emotions, etc. - I think it has to do with being the only girl in our family. It's nice to know I'm not alone. :)
Well, Davis just came down to watch a movie with me because I told him he could stay up until 11:11 p.m. (the time he was born). He said he won't feel any older until it's "official." :) It's going to be so much FUN! I'll continue Davis's story tomorrow...
