SCOUTING

Davis recently received his Arrow of Light, which is a big accomplishment for Cub Scouts. For those of you who don't know much about Scouts, it's the only award you can take from Cub Scouts into Boy Scouts. Here's a picture of Davis with his dedicated leader. Here's a picture of Davis crossing the bridge - representing leaving Weblos and entering into 11-year old scouts.
And a picture of us together.
I'm so proud of him for all of his scouting accomplishments and hope he continues to enjoy his scouting experiences.

GARDEN

We decided to do a garden again this year and everytime Mick's out there working in it - Bennett's right along side him (whether he is dressed or not). Bennett loves watching the plants grow and takes just as much pride in our garden as Mick does. I love watching them work together and I can't wait to see what their work brings us!!

AGAIN...Sorry - Hopefully the Last Time

Well, Davis did it again (this time he crashed his bike on the road).

~
But THIS time I was able to clean it all by myself. :)

I keep wondering though...when will it end??

YAHOO!!

Davis and I hopefully made our last trip to Spokane for his second post-op appointment yesterday. The surgeon said his ear looks perfect and healthy. And the audiologist tested him in the 5-10 db range (normal is 0-20 db, 0 being the best) for the majority of frequencies! YAY!
~
No more excuses for Davis!

*BEWARE*

More graphic photos.
~
So, Davis's face is not improving - it's actually getting more swollen. I'm guessing it's probably infected and will be taking him in to the doctor tomorrow. Dangit!

Seriously, beware...only those truly interested in what it looks like should scroll down...

Not Again?!

A group of neighborhood kids built a dirt track for bikes in an empty field by our house. So, all week my boys have been meeting their friends there and having a great time. Last night I decided to watch them and take some pictures.
~
This is a picture of the track...doesn't it look fun?

Davis was starting to get some confidence and go off some jumps.

Kyle was even catching some air.You don't even have to have a bike to have fun at this track. Bennett had a great time chasing Jake around. Jake is still getting the "feel" for the dirt track and stuck to the outside. Then we had our first accident. Kyle fell off his bike, but it wasn't too bad. "Just" a bruised thigh. He jumped up and got right back on.So of course I told Davis he could go ahead to the track by himself today. They have so much fun and don't seem to try anything too daring. In fact, he perfected this stunt last night when I was watching him... The teenagers were impressed with his "skills." But, I should have known better.

BOYS + DIRT + BIKES + NO MOM AROUND = DISASTER!

It was while doing this trick that Davis CRASHED today.
(Kristen and others who are faint...you may not want to scroll down)

I promise it's not that bad...

Come on Kristen, you can do it. ;)

This is a side profile to show the BUMP on his forehead.

And this is what his face looked like (it's shiny from the Neosporin -- and I swear pictures just don't do it justice). I don't know if you can see, but he has a BIG KNOT on the center of his forehead (yes, he took his helmet off when he got there), his eye's swelling shut, and he has major road rash down to his mouth - it's already looking healed in this picture. The reason I say "Not Again?!" is because...remember this? It was just last April.

I thought of calling Kim again for help, but I decided to try more local. My neighbor and good friend Mollie came over and cleaned Davis's face for me. Like Davis said, he "ate dirt" - it was everywhere. I am so lucky to have amazing friends nearby willing to help me. I promise one day I'll be strong enough to handle these situations myself...I just don't know when that will be. So, THANK YOU and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Warms My Heart

As you'll see, Jake's very sensitive...he made this card in class for his Dad.

Dear Dad,
Did you know that I've loved you since when I was bran (brand?) born? If you would be able to choose your own family I'd choose this family would you? I chose you to write about because I wrote about mom too much.
P.S. I'll never forget you. Hugs and kissis!
Jake makes me smile. :)

FAMILY FUN WITH GRANDMA WIBERG

With Mother's Day and my Mom's birthday approaching - I've been thinking about all she does for me and my family.
~
Something my Mom loves to do is take the Grandkids on hikes in the Zintel Canyon behind their house. Their favorite thing to do is swing on a rope swing they found there. These pictures are from last year - and as you'll see, my Mom loves taking pictures too. Here's Davis on the swing...
Here's Kyle on the swing...
Here's Jake on the swing...
A picture of my boys with some of their cousins.
Another picture with their cousins...under a tree.
Another picture with their cousins...in a tree.
And another picture with their cousins...on a bridge.
And the last picture with their cousins...on a log.
I know my kids LOVE when Grandma takes them on these adventures and I'm so happy she remembers to take her camera so I can see all the fun they have together (and I love the natural backdrops and props).
