Happy Birthday Davis!

My oldest "baby" turned 10 today. With his birthday, it's got me remembering all kinds of feelings and emotions -- the DESIRE Mick and I had to start a family, the FEAR we had when the doctor told me I have fertility issues and may not get pregnant, the EXCITEMENT of finding out a month later that I was pregnant, the JOY of pregnancy, the pain and RELIEF of birth, the instant LOVE and bond I had with him, the SADNESS of leaving him behind in the hospital for a week, and the overwhelming thought of being a parent and bringing him home.

It's sad for me to think that I won't ever have these experiences again, but I do know that I will experience all these emotions and more as I continue through motherhood. It's such a blessing to be a Mom - I can't ask for a better calling. I very much enjoyed the talk that was given this afternoon about Mothers...it really helped me reflect on my parenting, my children, and my relationship with my husband. I felt like it was for me. I sometimes feel all alone with my feelings and emotions, etc. - I think it has to do with being the only girl in our family. It's nice to know I'm not alone. :)

Well, Davis just came down to watch a movie with me because I told him he could stay up until 11:11 p.m. (the time he was born). He said he won't feel any older until it's "official." :) It's going to be so much FUN! I'll continue Davis's story tomorrow...

That's a fun thing for you to do. I bet he loved staying up so late. All my kids would be up til early morning. I never had one at night! You are not alone in your feelings about being a mom. We've all been there or are there. I can't wait to hear more about Davis. I hope he has a Great Birthday!

Davis ended up staying up until 11:30 or so (we had to wait for the movie to get over). It was very exciting! And he actually felt like 11:12 p.m. was more official. :)

Jodi- How cute! You are sweet to let him stay up!

Yeah- I am really into food storage right now! If want want bucket, I got them from Jan. Her friend ordered a pallet of them- and they are food quality and come with lids. They are $1 each. Jan announced it in church- and was trying to let everyone know!

Wow...that's not fair. I'm the only one is South Korea, so if I don't comment I get busted. lol. I remember when Davis was born. I can't believe that was 10 years ago. I like that idea about letting him stay up until the time he was born...I should do that to Hazel, who was born at 7:20pm...it would be like a present to me to have her go to bed that early. :)

I remember us being pregnant at the same time too and how much better you looked than me!! ;) And I also remember running into you at Winco when you were potty training Jared. I was very impressed that he was out in undies!! Way to go Jared!! :)

That totally makes me laugh! I remember WinCo, too Jared is still the potty training champion of my kids to date. I think girls are hard to potty train!

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Amanda and I LOVE your frog icon of course!
