Sorry it's taken so long Davis. He's been "bugging" me to do his birth day story for days. You know how Spring Break is though - no Mom time (translation: no blogging time because the kids are taking turns on the computer all day).
Anyway, I thought I'd copy right from his baby book. "The Day You Were Born": You were born Monday, April 6, 1998 at 11:11 p.m. How Mom knew it was time: Dad and I went for a walk on Sunday, April 5th to try and start "something" and sure enough - contractions started before we even made it home...about 6pm. They didn't get close enough together until 10:30 p.m. The contractions were about 2-3 minutes apart when I woke your Dad. Your Dad was so tired he suggested we wait until the contractions were 1-2 minutes apart. I didn't think that was a good idea since you were my first baby and didn't know how fast you'd come into this world (which I guess we could've waited). We checked in the hospital around 11:00 p.m. that night. Who was there? How long did it take? Worst part? Best part?: Your Dad, the doctor, and the nurses were the only ones in the room when you were born - but your Grandma Wiberg, Grandma McDonald, Aunt Leah, Aunt Heather, Uncle Jeff, and Kristene Killinger were waiting for your arrival in the waiting room. They say they heard the doctor say, "It's a Davis" when you were born (the doctor asked what our boy and girl name was). It took quite awhile for you to be born...HOURS and HOURS. It was a long, painful (my epidural didn't work), exhausting experience, but well worth it! The doctor mentioned prepping me for a c-section and I suddenly dialated to a 10. The worst part was the hours of pain. Your Dad being there with me actually helped with that some. And the best part was the "relief" when you were born and seeing you. I was a little out of it from being awake for SO MANY HOURS and the medication they gave me for the nausea - but I remember thinking how beautiful you were. Even if your head was a little cone-shaped from being vacuumed. :) You were in the birth canal for so long, the doctor didn't want to wait any longer to get you out, so he used the vacuum. So after 29 hours of labor (and two nights of no sleep for me) - you were FINALLY born. :) Mom's feelings: Becoming a mother is the most wonderful and special feeling ever! I really wasn't expecting to have such an INSTANT love and bond - it was so magical! From the moment you were born I forgot about the pain of labor and was filled with hopes and dreams for you and knew I would do anything for you! I love you so much!
Who knew that when you were only 7 months old I'd find out I was pregnant again. And that you'd have three younger brothers to take care of and play with when you were only 5. You adapted and took on the responsibility very well. You're such a joy to have in our family. I love watching you grow and learn, watching you play in sports (I'm a little competitive too Kim), watching you advance in scouts, watching your testimony grow, and watching you become your own person. I'm proud to be your Mom!!

These are my favorite kinds of posts! I could literally listen to labor and delivery stories for hours on end. Our first babies' L&D experiences are pretty much identical! Minus that vacuum, that would have freaked me out!
So you had 4 boys in 5 years! Look at you, brave mama!! We have to get our boys together to play more often. You know, when I'm not screaming absurdities from the bleachers.
I love how you are documenting your experiences as a mom. That's what it is all about!
Your funny Kim! And I'd have to say Davis's L&D was the worst out of the 4. Kyle's labor was only 21hours and then Jake and Bennett were c-sections (phew!). And the 4 boys in 5 years was not planned...we only planned our first and last pregnancy. And we'll definately need to get the boys together!
rip - You know how it was with the first baby...you document everything (until you have the next one, and the next one, etc.). ;) I'm sure you did better than I did!
That was super sweet Jodie!
I too enjoy these memories that us mom's have. It's so fun to compare what all of us went through! I can't imagine having a 7 month old and finding out that I was pregnant! Whether it was planned or not, you are Awesome Jodi.
