Not Again?!

A group of neighborhood kids built a dirt track for bikes in an empty field by our house. So, all week my boys have been meeting their friends there and having a great time. Last night I decided to watch them and take some pictures.
~
This is a picture of the track...doesn't it look fun?

Davis was starting to get some confidence and go off some jumps.

Kyle was even catching some air.You don't even have to have a bike to have fun at this track. Bennett had a great time chasing Jake around. Jake is still getting the "feel" for the dirt track and stuck to the outside. Then we had our first accident. Kyle fell off his bike, but it wasn't too bad. "Just" a bruised thigh. He jumped up and got right back on.So of course I told Davis he could go ahead to the track by himself today. They have so much fun and don't seem to try anything too daring. In fact, he perfected this stunt last night when I was watching him... The teenagers were impressed with his "skills." But, I should have known better.

BOYS + DIRT + BIKES + NO MOM AROUND = DISASTER!

It was while doing this trick that Davis CRASHED today.
(Kristen and others who are faint...you may not want to scroll down)

I promise it's not that bad...

Come on Kristen, you can do it. ;)

This is a side profile to show the BUMP on his forehead.

And this is what his face looked like (it's shiny from the Neosporin -- and I swear pictures just don't do it justice). I don't know if you can see, but he has a BIG KNOT on the center of his forehead (yes, he took his helmet off when he got there), his eye's swelling shut, and he has major road rash down to his mouth - it's already looking healed in this picture. The reason I say "Not Again?!" is because...remember this? It was just last April.

I thought of calling Kim again for help, but I decided to try more local. My neighbor and good friend Mollie came over and cleaned Davis's face for me. Like Davis said, he "ate dirt" - it was everywhere. I am so lucky to have amazing friends nearby willing to help me. I promise one day I'll be strong enough to handle these situations myself...I just don't know when that will be. So, THANK YOU and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Holy Crap Jodi...that is crazy bad! Are you sure he didn't get a concussion? I would have a hard time if my kid looked like that too! Side note: 1 month, 2 days!

You fooled me with the first picture. I thought, that's not bad. Then when I scrolled down I gasped. Seriously, this is just sick. Then you put on the other picture of what happened a year ago? Yeah, my day is now ruined! Ha! I hope he's OK, and I'm glad you didn't call me to come and help. I would've passed out.

That knot IS a doozey, but "WWWOOOOOOOWWWW!!!!" on the road rash (that's a direct Seth quote too, btw. lol). Hope his eye's doing ok today, but by crikey it'll probably be a while before the knot subsides & that road rash is a distant memory. Why don't I remember his eye swollen shut from last spring? hmmm...well, goes to show what an awesome mom you are. Other moms would've told him to buck up. You're so good for taking care of him and thinking to call someone for help. Love ya!
