I'm sure all of you Tri-Citians were aware of our very crazy storm a couple of nights ago. Well, Mick and I were out watching it and I decided to go out into the street to get a better look. On my way down the driveway - a HUGE lightning struck close enough that Mick and I heard a LOUD electrical sound and all the car alarms on our street started going off. Needless to say, Mick and I RAN inside (Mick in front without a look behind at me) and watched the rest of the storm from inside. The next morning we discovered our computer and phone weren't working anymore. I'm assuming from the close lightning. Anyway, I figured out our phone wasn't working because it was hooked through the computer. And today I decided to be proactive and got out our computer manual and followed some directions and it came back on. PHEW!!!!!! I can't believe it. I really have no idea what I did. But I'm soooooo happy it's back!! Here's some video I took of the storm right before the BIG lightning.
Did you watch the storm - do you have any stories?

I can't believe that you were outside recording the thunderstorm. I have to admit, the lightning looks pretty cool in the video. When you remember, go to my blog and read my story of that night! :) Glad you got your computer back up and running. That's awesome that you fixed it yourself. Good Job Jodi.
Cool video!
When the storm started, Tom thought it would be fun to drive around and see it from the car. We could see lightning all around the tri-cities. The kids loved it.
Umm, this is so crazy. I was just talking to Debie S. and they were on their way back from Silverwood during the storm. Basically the same thing happened to their house and they were trying to figure out if it was struck. Their computer, phone, garage door, etc. is all out and the outlet behind the crib was charred as well as part of the crib. Scary! I love watching lightning, but I definitely get scared when it gets too close for comfort! Glad you got your computer working again. Call Debie though--you guys need to compare stories!
Holy cow, Emily, that is freaky! What if Britton had been in the crib?! I heard it struck a hay stack right by Debie's house.
I thought for sure it was going to hit our house. (Doesn't it always seem like it's right on top of only you?) I was freaking out. Bill and I went outside and watched it for a while until it got closer and louder and when the first big crack hit we booked it inside. I was having a major anxiety attack. Macy slept right through it but it woke Payson up and I sat on the couch and held him (I think I was using his warm body to comfort me instead of the other way around) trying not to hyperventilate while Bill watched out our back door laughing and saying "Woah!" At each lightning strike/thunder crash.
I do NOT love thunder storms.
That strom was so scary. I would have never thought to video tape it. Did you know the lightning struck 4 houses down from us and made a fire. But the rain put it out. My mom was going to call the fire station but we had no phones. It was so scary. Go to my blog and read about it. Just scroll down a little bit. You will see.
Bye bye.♥☺♥
At least your computer is working. I am blogging at miss-mattie's house right now. the storm damaged our computer, phones, some lights, some outlets, and more! Britton's bed is right next to an outlet and there is a burn mark on the side of his bed. He could of got shocked and hurt! I am glad he is Okay!
blog4ever♥☺♥
Okay, after I got my computer running the other day - it quit again until now. I'm not sure what's going on with it. I plan on just leaving it on from now on and hopefully it'll stay running. I'll have to check everyone's blogs tomorrow - at a more decent hour. I've been up too late watching the Olympics. :) And I'll have to call Debie and see how things are going for you. SCAREY!
Anderson and I sat out on the deck. It was sooo cool. I am bummed about your computer and I hope you get it all sorted out soon. I can't stand when theing go wrong that cost lots of money!
You're so funny Jodi. I'm having a blast with the blogging. The speakers talked about time spent in front of the tv and other media. All 3 were saying that we need to spend our time improving talents, family time, etc. Is it bad that I try to justify blogging as journaling?:)- You're picks have been fun to look at too! And Cooper is between 3-6 and 6-9. He's so big though that he's wearing 12 mo pj's. He's only 4 months! It was so funny, when I showed Dave the pic, he told Kenni immediatly that I (mommy) was naughty for putting Coop in the dolly bed. Seriously, that kid is going to be putting up with quie a bit.
Ooppss. I missed this post. It was a very scary storm. I didn't like it at all. We were very close to the landings. It started a fire 4 houses down. Very scary. Glad it was over. Great pictures of it.
Jodi-So glad we could reconnect after 8 years! I'm sorry I'm such a loser friend. You're family looks amazing! Very handsome boys! You and Mic look the same....in luuv and happy :)
I just posted about our storm experience. Scary for sure.
No need to schedule, just stop by sometime! If I'm home, I'd love to have you come in. I have to say though, it's a MAJOR work in progress. I have soooo many ideas and so little budget. I'm constantly rearranging and rotating through things. I wish I could say my kids rooms are done, but I've been working on them for about 5 months now. Also, I stained my kitchen cabinets last year and still haven't finished 3 of the doors. They've been in the garage the whole time. :( Now I want to do and addition to the family room! We'll see if I can convince Dave ;-) The stories are a blast.
That thunderstorm was awesome!! I wish it weren't raining a little over here or I would have been out with my camera. Maybe we'll get lucky and have another one soon.
I loved the video commentary, the way you were willing the lightning to strike...That's probably the exact moment your computer broke! Motha Nature doesn't play around!
