Today has been one of those days for Davis. He seems to be having a lot of them this summer. His broken nose, falling into a picnic table while playing frisbee, etc. Tonight he was eating a hot dog while crying and all of the sudden started choking. I looked over at him and his whole face and lips were blue/purple. I've never seen anything like it. I went over to him and did the Heimlich maneuver on him and it popped out. It was so scary and I was totally shaking. I'm so thankful it only took one try. His brothers looked at him and said they thought he was going to die. He's doing fine now, he just has a sore throat. Does anyone have any bubble tape to wrap him in? I'm scared of what will happen next.

Maybe a big hamster ball would do the trick. Hot dogs are the perfect size and shape for blocking an airway. Way to go Mom on Rescue 911!
Are you kidding me? You're joking, right?!?!
That's one thing I've never had to do! I'm so proud of you! Way to keep your head in the game and know exactly what to do and be effective at it at the same time!! How scary though! I'm glad he's okay. He's just going to be one of those boys that trouble seems to follow.
How scary is that Jodi. Good thing you didn't panic. I am so glad that you were able to pop that out. I have bubble wrap, but it won't help. He will suffocate then.
I totally have to quote Edward, referring to Bella: "If we could bottle your luck, we'd have a weapon of mass destruction on our hands."
Davis and Bella seem to have a lot in common! (For anyone who is rolling their eyes at yet another Twilight reference from me, I'm only saying it from one superfan to another.)
You are amazing that you did the Heimlich and did it the right way! You are my hero!
Thats it you are the official MOM of the YEAR! I've had to do the Heimlich one time and it scared the crud out of me and it wasn't even on my own kid. I'm not so sure I wouldn't have freaked if it would have been. I'm w/ Amy a hampster ball sounds in order or mabey just a big plastic ball like bubble boy had... Just a thought :)
Wow! That is amazing! It's nice to know those procedures- but always pray you never have to use them! That IS scary!
Oh my!!! You are a super mom! I would've done the finger sweep and make it worse! Good job at staying calm!
I still am slowly reading...as soon as I get in the car to go to Utah....I will read, read, read!
Amy J - I love your suggestion. Too funny!
Kim - I could totally hear you saying your comment.
Alicia - LOVE the Bella/Edward reference. ;)
Jan - Hahaha, we don't want to add suffocation to his list.
Niki - Thanks for the "award."
Terra - I hope I never have to use it again too. Or anyone else for that matter. Scarey!
Kristen - Hope you enjoy reading Twilight as much as I have (all 3 times).
That is horrifying! Really, that is my biggest fear. I am so proud of you, I'm not sure how I would have reacted.
You guys lead a scary life!
I think I would've died. I don't know how to do the Heimlich, (or spell it for that matter, I just copied your spelling.) Glad everything turned out just fine.
That's every mom's worst nightmare, it's a good thing you were around. What a blessing that it all worked out in the end.
I'm alright-davis
