The Rubbles Trying to Keep up with the Jetsons

Betty (me) and Barney (Mick) have been just waiting for their 15 year old (27") t.v. with rabbit ear reception to die already so they could catch up to the 21st century. But it looked as if this was never going to happen. So, when the government sent out those wonderful stimulus checks, Betty and Barney decided it was time to keep up with the Jetsons and get a new t.v. with channels (lots of channels) . Betty insisted that they not be too practical this time with their money (like they always are) and enjoy it like they're supposed to.
And this is what they got and they LOVE it. They actually can tell who and what's on their screen now (they can even see moles, freckles, tears, etc.). They can even tell the score of a game. No more blurry or triple vision on this screen.
~
Their friend Wilma (Kim) was over awhile ago and told Betty that she couldn't figure out what Barney was watching on their old t.v. because the reception was THAT bad.
~
Their son Bam Bam (Davis) tells everyone he knows that his family has a big screen t.v. with a satellite. And most everyone he tells just says, "so" because most people are WAY ahead of the Rubbles. But they'll getting there...someday.

Yeah, we finally had to upgrade our old stuff last month, too. It's been so nice to actually SEE what's going on when I watch television. Who knew watching tv on the cheap-o Walmart special could be that terrible? We do now! I can't wait for the fall season to start and watch it all in our 46" widescreen glory. :-)

How nice! Maybe someday we'll get out of the dark ages. Meanwhile I think I'll go adjust my rabbit ears...

Actually, we just got the DTV Converter Box and we can't believe the difference in picture quality. I guess we're stuck for a while :)

HA! Such a clever post. I (Wilma) really wasn't trying to be rude, it just took me a while to figure out it was Rachael Ray on the TV! But I am glad that you guys updated. I know you're loving it, too!

We're not there yet, maybe one day. I totally agree about the fantastic reception though. My parents got one and it's amazing.

Nice t.v.! I wish ours was skinny like that. It is a really nice t.v., but it has a huge back still...grass is always greener right!?

What a hilarious, clever way to post this. I loved it! I'm so excited for you to finally catch up with the times! (Although now I'm starting to wonder what I'm missing on my non-big/flat screen tv). I think the funnies thing about this post is Kim's comment...so Mick's a Rachel Ray fan?

See that's the problem, when you get a new big TV you have to get a dish. I'm holding out still, but the males in the family are pulling for one.

This is a cute post Jodi! Congrats on your new TV! The only bummer I have found with having a ton of channels is that there is still never anything on.

Oh by the way my jury summons is for Sept. bummer it would have been fun to carpool with you. Good luck!
